Photography and Fine Art.......

...... can be seen as opposite ends of a continuum, with the former having its roots and tradition firmly grounded in representation, where the viewer is asked  to step into the shoes of the photographer and share that moment. Portrait, landscape or documentary photograph, all share this modus operandi.
At the other end is expression, where the artist works to express his/her own voice, and the camera moves from being an object in its own right, a vital and important participant and contributor, to a capture device, used to gather material for later manipulation, for the artist to use in expressing him/herself.

Thought for the day......

Skill without imagination is craftsmanship and gives us many useful objects such as wickerwork picnic baskets. Imagination without skill gives us modern art.
